Over Tubby Smith? GET OVER YOURSELF.

When the “Fire Childress” chants re-emerged at Metrodome mid-season last year, I had a bullhorn. Brad Childress was not the right head coach for the Minnesota Vikings (nor any NFL franchise… nor for a flipping pee-wee league for that matter). His track record was short, but filled with critiques: too rigid with his game plan, failed to identify proper talent, terrible clock management, among others. While this squad was certainly impressive (and would eventually produce several NBA draft picks, including Larry Johnson and Greg Anthony), the Runnin’ Rebels didn’t exactly barrel their way through the tournament. In fact, they almost didn’t make it out of the Sweet 16. Add in that they didn’t play a team seeded higher than 3 all tournament, and a case could easily be made that they don’t belong. (In reality, the 1990-91 version...
