The Insanity of Marathons

I successfully completed my first marathon a few weeks ago, and as I’ve mentioned before, I’ve become fairly convinced that running marathons and, more specifically, training to run marathons, requires that you are either currently insane or ready to push yourself to insanity. When I began the whole endeavor, I certainly expected some things to happen: extreme muscle fatigue, possible injury, an utter disdain for running, to name a few. Edina native Mardy Fish and Rochester native Bethanie Mattek-Sands are atop the U.S. rankings following Wimbledon this past weekend. If you’re into Tennis Betting, you better get yours bets in on them while this lasts. Fish entered...

2020 Summer Olympics…in Minneapolis?

Rome, Madrid, Tokyo…Minneapolis? Hmmm… One of these things is definitely not like the other. And I don’t think we need Cookie Monster to help us figure it out. Despite obvious differences from some of its more worldly competitors, Minneapolis continues to be an improbable candidate to host the 2020 Summer Olympics. Okay, so maybe I am using the word candidate a little loosely. Truthfully, Minneapolis is one of at least 23 cities bidding to host the 2020 Summer Games. Okay, okay…maybe I am using the word bidding a little loosely. Truthfully, Minneapolis has yet to submit a formal bid,...
