A Year In Minnesota Sports

2011 was quite possibly the worst year in Minnesota Sports since sometime in the 1950s. The Vikings plummeted from the NFC Championship game in epic fashion to finish the 2010-11 season with worst record in the NFC North. The Wolves held the worst record in the NBA. The Gophers basketball team finished the season on a 1-10 slide that knocked Tubby out of the NCAA tournament for the first time in 15 years. This isn’t for lack of wanting, though, especially with the team atop the WCHA standings and second in the nation in the most recent rankings (behind UMD). Gophers hockey is one of the most exciting and successful sports teams in Minnesota over the last decade. With Lucia resigned for one last hurrah, the team is looking to emerge from the three-year doldrums that have been haunting them. Part of this success is key stars remaining in school for one more season, passing up a potentially hefty paycheck. With seven...
