Spring is here and summer is just around the corner. Soon the sun will be setting late in the evening and the summer breeze will be keeping us outdoors until its dark. By the time mid-May rolls around, any hope for a respectable season from the Twins will be in the rear view window and Minnesotans will need other outdoor sporting events to attend. Lucky for us, the St. Paul Saints is always a fun outing, and Canterbury Park opens up its live racing May 18th.
Canterbury is slowly coming to life. Stables are being cleaned and prepped for the horses to arrive this week. Training on the main track begins in just a few short days. Soon jockeys, trainers, and owners alike will be wondering if this is the year they make the leap. Will this be the year their horse dominates at Canterbury and moves on to greener pastures?
As Canterbury comes to life, it means the casino will be coming to life as well. While the casino games are open year round at Canterbury Park, they take on a new buzz once the live horse racing begins. The poker tables are full. There are no empty seats on the Minnesota 21 tables on the weekends. It’s the time of year to enjoy the horse races and play casino games.
So while the weather warms up and the fervor for the Twins will unfortunately cool down, rest assured that Canterbury Park will be in full swing in just a month. Make sure to set aside some time to venture that way and check out the races.
