We’re two games into an undefeated season and the excitement is circulating the state of Minnesota. There will be plenty of ups and downs in this strike-shortened season, but Wild fans are excited to be back in action, not to mention back in the national discussion.
Last week we ESPN mega-hockey analyst Barry Melrose picked the Wild to win the Western Conference. Now, with the season underway, Melrose is taking his prediction one step further. He is picking Minnesota to win the Stanley Cup. That’s right Minnesota fans, Melrose is on our bandwagon to win the whole shebang.
While the overwhelming majority of ESPN analysts picked the St. Louis Blues to win the West, Melrose was the only “expert” to pick the Wild to win the West, and (obviously) the only one to pick them to win it all.
Other than Melrose, only two other ESPN analysts even picked Minnesota to win the Northwest Division–Scott Burnside and James Murphy.
After a few more convincing victories like the opener and they’ll all start coming around.
