For the second time in three years Goldy has won the national title at the Mascot Competition. This is beginning to be quite a gold standard for mascots here in Minnesota, (pun sadly intended).

Held in Orlando last weekend, Goldy faced off against a number of other national mascots, including a few others from our Big Ten rivals. Wisconsin’s Bucky Badger placed third in the competition. Michigan State’s Sparty placed sixth. Ohio State’s Brutus Buckeye landed in the seventh spot. The the poor sap Herky the Hawk from Iowa placed eight.

Minnesota’s dance team also won national titles in the jazz and pom competitions. The U of M has won those competitions for four years straight now.

Let’s hope the Minnesota basketball team can carry the torch with these winning ways this season. Check out Goldy’s performance below. You can view all the dance performances at Gopher Sports.
