  What You Need To Know Derek Boogaard Passes Away at the Age of 28   “The Boogeyman”, one of the NHL’s most feared fighters, passed away on May 13 in his home in Minneapolis after 6 years with the Minnesota Wild and New York Rangers.  A powerful mix of alcohol and oxycodone was cited as the cause.  Hundreds attended his funeral on Saturday in Canada.  Boogaard donated his brain to research.   NBA Eastern Conference Finals- Chicago Bulls vs. Miami Heat Bulls took game one.  Lebron James and the Heat took game two and three to claim a...

It was almost a year and a half ago when I made the bold comment, out loud, that the Timberwolves were making moves to build a dynasty. Minnesota Golden Gophers’ men’s basketball team lost center Colton Iverson this week due to defection. Iverson is the latest in an epidemic of defecting players in the last year: Royce White, Paul Carter, Justin Cobbs and Devoe Joseph. Everyone has been tight-lipped about Colton Iverson leaving Minnesota so far. The Gophers initially asked Iverson to reconsider his decision when he first asked for a release from his scholarship for his senior year. 1 Kansas vs. 16 Boston University The 2010-2011 Kansas Jayhawks had one common opponent with the 2010-2011 Minnesota Gophers, the Michigan Wolverines. The Kansas Jayhawks defeated the Wolverines on January 9 in overtime 67-60. The Gophers split their series, winning on January 22 with a score of 69-64 and then losing later in the season on 70-63 on February 26. Whether this means that the Gophers underachieved, the Jayhawks overachieved or the Wolverines have an ace up their sleeve is yet to be seen.
