      15 years ago today, Minnesota’s NHL organization chose the name that would forever be our hockey team. (That is, unless they up and leave us in the dead of the night again. God forbid.) On January 22, 1998, Minnesotans were looking at six potential nicknames for their new hockey team. The strike-shortened season is going to be a sprint to the playoffs. 48 games in 99 days. There will be no rest for the weary at any point this season. We’re two games into an undefeated season and the excitement is circulating the state of Minnesota. There will be plenty of ups and downs in this strike-shortened season, but Wild fans are excited to be back in action, not to mention back in the national discussion. Ryan Suter has yet to play a single minute with Minnesota, yet he has fans excited around Minnesota. Most of that is clearly because of his exceptional play on the ice, but fans also seem excited that his wife is from Bloomington and he’s back home in the Midwest.
