Rubio’s Return Could Be Sooner Than Expected

Amidst a five game losing streak, the Timberwolves have found themselves in a mini free fall of sorts. Injuries, lack of depth and poor execution have been the culprits. After beginning the season 5-2 without Ricky Rubio and All Star Kevin Love, three games in the Wolves current losing streak have come with Love in the lineup, who returned to action surprisingly early from a broken hand. It is apparent the Wolves need all the help they can get in the form of returning injured stars. Timberwolves beat writer for the Strib Jerry Zgoda recently wrote that Rubio may...

Stopped to watch Ricky Rubio crumple to the court. Knee injury. In that moment—only 16.4 seconds remaining in the game—a collective wave of fear washed over Minnesota Timberwolves fans everywhere. And when the confirmation of a torn left ACL hit the media last Saturday morning, the murmuring started. Just when the Wolves seem to have turned a corner after suffering consecutive losing seasons, their...

Weekly Wolves Grades: Ricky Rubi…Oh

It was a decent week record-wise for the Timberwolves, who went 2-2 this week.  However, it was a tough week for the franchise in other ways, as the team lost Ricky Rubio for the season to a torn ACL. It goes without saying the injury is a crushing blow. Ricky ranked 5th among rookies in PPG (10.6), as well as 1st in APG (8.2), SPG (2.2), and MPG (34.2). In order to make the playoffs (they’re currently one game behind Houston for the 8th spot) others will need to step up in his absence. (I’m talking to YOU, JJ...
