As the first round of the NFL draft looms tomorrow, the first two picks hold absolutely no suspense. Everyone knows Andrew Luck and RG3 are going 1 and 2. Maybe there’s slight suspense in waiting to see if Indianapolis will draft RG3 instead of Luck, but they won’t. They’ll take Andrew Luck and he will be immediately followed by Robert Griffin III going to the Redskins. At which point our beloved Minnesota Vikings are on the clock. Cam Newton certainly wouldn’t fit the culture here in Minnesota. We’re a humble folk, and we almost pride ourselves on living in a sports purgatory, (minus the Twins of 2 decades ago, of course), void of any “me-first”-type guys. So when a potential #1 overall NFL pick lowers his stock a tad by saying that he thinks of himself as an “Entertainer and Icon”, the typical Minnesotan will turn up their nose on the ‘college kid who needs to get knocked down a few rungs’.
